Running Creek Casino Expansion

Upper Lake, CA

New Construction

Running Creek Casino strives to boast tourism through the entertainment industry in a city most commonly known for their vineyards. MAI was selected to provide site planning, preliminary engineering, and final engineering. Faced with unusual constraints of the existing terrain, MAI took a creative and forward thinking approach to overcome these obstacles throughout all phases of the project.

The first phase included the design of the underground utility infrastructure for the flat landform. Through detailed analysis, MAI designed a self-sufficient water system, served by two onsite wells with storage tanks for both domestic water and fire protection. Additionally, a gravity flow sewage line was designed to connect to the nearby county lift station and ultimately pave the way for an effortless future site development by incorporating an onsite private lift station.

The second phase comprised of site grading and surface improvements while minimizing disturbances to the natural landscape. MAI created a surface drainage design well suited to capture rain. Moreover, MAI provided planning for ADA parking, a porte cochere driveway entry, and parking areas using a combination of hard surface paving and compacted gravel overflow.

As a result of maintaining an open line of communication with all parties involved, MAI successfully delivered an economical and cost-effective design to the client.
