  • Project Manager – Land Surveyor

    Location: North San Diego County, CA (In-Person)

    Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday


    Position Summary

    Masson & Associates is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Manager – Land Surveyor to lead and manage surveying projects across Southern California. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of progressive surveying experience in California, possess strong leadership and technical skills, and be motivated to contribute to a collaborative and growing team.


    The successful candidate will be responsible for managing field and office survey operations, preparing maps and boundary analyses, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations, and providing quality control on all survey deliverables.


    Responsibilities

    • Manage and oversee all phases of land surveying projects, from proposal to completion

    • Supervise field and office staff to ensure accurate data collection and efficient project execution

    • Prepare and review maps, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and construction staking

    • Perform boundary analysis, legal description preparation, and coordinate with engineering and planning teams

    • Ensure compliance with California Land Surveyors Act and other applicable laws and standards

    • Utilize CAD, GPS, and other surveying software and technology to produce high-quality deliverables

    • Maintain project schedules, budgets, and quality control processes

    • Provide mentoring, training, and technical support to junior survey team members

    • Communicate effectively with clients, agencies, and internal staff regarding project scope and progress


    Qualifications

    • Licensed Land Surveyor (PLS) in the State of California (required)

    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant surveying experience in California

    • Strong understanding of land surveying principles, boundary law, and mapping standards

    • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, GPS, and total station equipment

    • Experience with ALTA/NSPS, boundary, topographic, and construction surveys

    • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills

    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

    • Experience with Trimble Business Center is considered an asset

    • Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits

Project Manager:
Responsible for management and coordination of all functions and activities of a design team. Requires BSCE, PE registration (California), 8 to 10 years of experience, excellent organization and communication skills. AutoCAD ability a plus.

Project Engineer:
Responsible for engineering design, plans, specifications and cost estimates under the direction of a Project Manager. Requires BSCE, PE registration (California), AutoCAD ability, excellent organizational and communication skills, 5 years of experience.

Design Engineer:
Responsible for engineering design, preparation of specifications and cost estimates, engineering studies, and technical reports under the direction of the Project Engineer. Requires BSCE, EIT (California), 2 to 4 years experience, and AutoCAD ability, or 5 plus years design experience, with AutoCAD experience.

Drainage/Water Quality Engineer: 
Responsible for supporting the project managers with the required Hydrology/Hydraulic reports, WQTR reports and input. Must have up to date information on the current policies and regulations pertaining to these areas. Autocad, SWMM and Civilcad experience necessary.

Entry Level Engineer:
Works within a design team, performing engineering design, engineering related research and calculations under direct supervision. BSCE, EIT required. Must have AutoCAD experience.

Mapping / CADD Technician:
Provides CAD and technical support to design teams, including generation of computer data from field surveys, notes and other input material. Requires 3 years of prior experience and knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Party Chief:
Directs work of survey party performing field surveys of all types, including construction staking, topographic mapping, boundary surveys, property and right-of-way surveys, and control surveys. Requires 5 years prior experience. Knowledge of GPS surveying equipment preferred.

Chainperson:
Assist Party Chief with field surveying and office land surveying work.

Administrative:
Administrative, Financial, and Marketing Staff related to office operations.
