Project Manager – Traffic Engineering
North San Diego County, CA (In-Person) — Full-time
Masson & Associates is growing our traffic engineering practice and seeking an experienced Project Manager – Traffic Engineering to lead traffic studies, design, and consulting services for public and private sector clients throughout Southern California. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of progressive traffic engineering experience in California, possess strong leadership and technical skills, and be motivated to help build a growing practice.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing traffic engineering projects from proposal through completion, preparing and overseeing traffic studies and roadway design documents, coordinating with public agencies, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Manage traffic engineering and planning projects from proposal through completion
- Prepare and manage traffic impact studies (TIS), VMT/CEQA transportation analyses, parking studies, and site circulation reviews
- Oversee intersection, traffic signal, signing and striping, and temporary traffic control plan preparation
- Lead project and client meetings, and present to public agencies, planning commissions, and community groups
- Coordinate with cities, counties, Caltrans, and other agencies on processing and permitting
- Prepare proposals, scopes, and fee estimates; manage project schedules, budgets, and invoicing
- Maintain client relationships and pursue new business opportunities
- Mentor, train, and provide technical support to junior engineering staff
- Ensure quality control on all deliverables
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of California (required)
- Minimum of 7 years of traffic engineering experience, including California experience
- Proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
- Working knowledge of the California MUTCD, Caltrans standards, and CEQA/VMT analysis
- PTOE certification is considered an asset
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits
