The Grand Project – Ritz Theater

Escondido, CA

Restoration of a circa 1930’s Escondido theater and incorporation of an adjacent facility to create a new community center for gatherings and public restaurant/coffee house. Civil engineering involved meticulous coordination with all other disciplines to ensure compatibility with required restoration standards. Project resides in a Downtown setting, Civil Engineering scope included public improvements of surrounding street parkways and underground utility design and tie-ins.

PROJECT CHALLENGES:

Retrofitting the new structural design into the existing constraints of the original building site. On the survey aspect of this project a challenge was the age of the original mapping and interpreting the intent of old maps.
